Presenters: William Fritz, Kevin Ghantous, Sean Kapsal, Danielle Tymitz
Date: Monday, February 13. 10:45am – 11:30am (Add to Calendar: Outlook | Google)
Session Room: C220-222 M2
Session Description:

An effective blended learning program requires quality tools, content and practices. This session will focus on essential attributes that lead to successful blended learning environments. Ten districts from Ohio have implemented shared services to deliver blended learning. We will discuss core elements required to support and maintain blended instruction. Learn how shared services can lower cost, expand collaboration and enhance learning opportunities for students.

Sycamore Community Schools, Deer Park City Schools, Wyoming City Schools, Medina City Schools, Wooster City Schools, Great Oaks Career Center, Tolles Career Center, Four County Career Center, Indian Hill Exempted Village Schools, Mason City Schools, Mayerson Academy, and Cincinnati Public Schools have joined together to create a shared services model for blended learning. Learn21, a non-profit representing each member, was created to enable districts to share services, costs and empower collaboration.

Since 2009, Learn21 has grown to over 35,000 users and delivers technology support, course design and teacher professional development services which allows each district to utilize shared resources.

Dashboard: Student Analysis Beyond Test Scores

Presenters: Kevin Ghantous, William Fritz
Date: Monday, February 13. 2:30pm – 3:15pm (Add to Calendar: Outlook | Google)
Session Room: Union E M5
Session Description:

Within a school district, student data resides across many systems (SIS, grade book, IEP, etc.), but often these systems are disconnected from one another requiring teachers and administrators to log into each system individually, then labor to find and join relevant information into complicated spreadsheets or databases with the goal of identifying students who are improving or need attention.

In this session we will share our goals, our journey, our failures, and our successes over the last four years as we have worked to combat and overcome these limitations. We will showcase how we utilized technology standards to integrate DASL, Progress Book, Roy Gordon IEP solution, Blackboard, and other independent systems together into a solution where staff can gain unified access to information, enabling analysis of student, classroom, building, and district information to make us a more data-driven district. We will show how this open platform enables the extension of student and classroom data into other facets including: Response to Intervention, Curriculum Mapping, Behavior Management Analysis, and Assessment Analysis.
